MoAD (Museum of the African Diaspora) is thrilled to prepare for the second edition of Nexus: SF/Bay Area Black Art Week!

Building on the success of last year’s inaugural event, Nexus continues to celebrate the richness of the Black artist community in the SF/Bay Area. This  celebration will bring together institutions, galleries, creative spaces, and artists for a week of special programming, exhibitions, and unique engagements.

As a leading institution dedicated to celebrating Black cultures, igniting challenging conversations, and inspiring learning through the global lens of the African Diaspora, MoAD recognizes the importance of providing a platform for Black artists to share their work, amplify their voices, cultivate community, and gain the recognition they deserve.

Join us for a night-only experience of art, music, and connection, honoring MoAD’s 20th Anniversary and kicking off Nexus Black Art Week across the Bay Area.In partnership with MoAD, YBCA, Empire, and The Svane Family Foundation, this reimagined celebration builds on history: the original Global Groove was MoAD’s first public opening event in 2005. Now, twenty years later, Global Groove returns—renewed for a new generation.To electrify the night, two extraordinary DJs will take center stage, bringing a soundtrack of movement, joy, and community. We are beyond thrilled to welcome DJ Novena Carmel and Kooldrink to set the vibe for an unforgettable evening.
